What's the best way to stay up to date with what's happening at camp?β–Ύ

We use three channels β€” please use all three so nothing slips by:

  • πŸ“± WhatsApp Group (PRIMARY): Our main day-to-day communication. Most live updates, last-minute changes, and important reminders land here first. Please join before camp begins.
  • πŸ“‹ Parent Portal: Theme calendars, trip waivers, FAQ, drop-off info, and photos β€” everything in one place. You're here right now!
  • βœ‰οΈ Weekly Newsletter: Emailed each week with the upcoming calendar, themes, and reminders.

I'm not receiving camp emails. What should I do?β–Ύ

First check your spam folder and any Promotions tab. If still nothing, email office@ganisrael.org from the address you registered with β€” we'll check our list and re-add you if you were accidentally unsubscribed.

Where do I drop off and pick up my child? What's the schedule?β–Ύ
  • Boys Division & Kiddie Camp: Rabbinical College of America, 226 Sussex Ave, Morristown, NJ
  • Girls Division: Sussex Avenue School, 125 Sussex Ave, Morristown, NJ 07960

Drop-off: 9:00 AM, Monday–Friday
Pickup: 3:30 PM Monday–Thursday  β€’  2:00 PM Fridays

Tap the Drop-off & Pick-up section for maps and directions.

Can I do an early pickup or pick my child up mid-day?β–Ύ

Yes — and a few things to help us make it smooth for your child:

  • Email at least the day before. Send the date and time to office@ganisrael.org, and we'll confirm. When you email, please ask if there's a slightly better pickup time — sometimes a few minutes earlier or later means your child doesn't miss swim, an activity, or end up waiting around.
  • Please be on time at the pickup time you stated. This isn't like school where your child stays in class until you arrive — we pull them from their bunk early, and if you're late they end up sitting out and missing the activity. The more accurate your timing, the better their experience.
  • No pickups or drop-offs on trip days or anywhere off-site. For everyone's safety, we cannot meet you at a trip location or any off-site activity (including Girls Division swim). Please check the theme calendar for trip days and Girls Division swim times before planning a pickup.
When will I find out who my child's counselor is?β–Ύ
  • Kiddie Camp: We email the counselor's name and a welcome note before camp begins.
  • Boys / Girls Division: Counselor and bunk assignments are shared within the first few days of camp. We hold off so each camper gets a fresh start without expectations, and so the first day of camp is a fun surprise.
My child has food allergies, an EpiPen, or needs medication. Can camp accommodate?β–Ύ

Yes — on registration, please complete the medical and allergy section so we know in advance.

  • Most of our key staff and counselors are CPR / first-aid certified and trained on EpiPen use.
  • For severe allergies, we can send allergy-sensitive snack reminders to the bunks on request.
  • EpiPens require a doctor's note with instructions. Please send both the note and the EpiPen with your child.

Medication policy: Camp staff does not administer medication. Campers who need medication during the day can self-administer at the camp office, provided that (a) the medication is kept in the office and (b) we have a doctor's note with the medication details and dosage.

Where do I check or upload my child's health and immunization forms?β–Ύ

Log into your UltraCamp parent account β†’ click your child's name β†’ scroll to My Forms to see the status of every form.

To upload immunization records: My Forms β†’ Complete a New Form β†’ Immunization Upload β†’ Select your child β†’ Upload.

⚠️ Immunization records must be on file before your child's first day of camp. If you haven't uploaded yet, please do so as soon as possible.
πŸ’‘ If your child attends Cheder Morristown and records are current there, we already have them on file β€” no further action needed.

Which days should I send a bathing suit and swim supplies?β–Ύ

Best practice: send swim gear every day unless you know for sure there's no water activity that day. Here's the full picture:

  • Theme calendar: Look for the swim icon on each division's theme calendar — that marks the days with formal swimming.
  • Trip days: Some trips include swim or water activities, so don't assume a trip day means no swim.
  • The Nine Days: Even when formal swim is paused for the Boys and Girls divisions, water activities are still scheduled — please continue sending swim supplies.
  • When in doubt, send it. The swimsuit may come home dry occasionally, and that's much better than missing out on a water activity.
What time do campers return from a grand trip? Do buses still run after?β–Ύ

We have two grand trips each summer — here's what to expect:

Grand Trip Day (Dorney Park) — all divisions:

  • Campers are scheduled to be back at camp by 5:00 PM.
  • We send live ETAs via WhatsApp with any delays or updates on the way back.
  • Transportation: Door-to-door buses run approximately 1 hour 45 minutes later than usual — pickup begins around 5:15 PM.
  • Kiddie Camp childcare: For families signed up for transportation, we offer childcare from 3:30–5:15 PM until buses arrive. We'll send a sign-up notice closer to the trip date.

Division B Late Night (Six Flags) — Division B only:

  • Scheduled return to camp by 8:30 PM.
  • We send live ETAs via WhatsApp on the way back.
  • No door-to-door transportation that night — please plan to pick up directly from camp.
Can we celebrate my child's birthday at camp?β–Ύ

Absolutely! Email office@ganisrael.org a few days in advance to schedule the celebration.

Sometimes a celebration isn't possible on the exact birthday because of a full-day trip or off-site activity — in those cases, we'll coordinate with you to do it on the closest possible day.

You're welcome to send in cupcakes or another treat. We generally celebrate during the morning learning class.

⚠️ All treats must be strictly kosher, nut-free, and Pas Yisroel. Email office@ganisrael.org for our list of acceptable kosher certification agencies.
How do I tip the counselors at the end of the summer?β–Ύ

Tipping is completely optional, but always appreciated by our staff. Near the end of the summer, we'll email you a link to the Grazzee app where you can tip any staff member directly.

Suggested ranges, per week your child attended:

  • Counselors: $5–$7 / week
  • Junior Counselors and CITs: $3–$5 / week
  • Bus Counselors and Bus Drivers: $3–$5 / week

Tips go straight to staff through the app — no fees if you use ACH transfer.
